acquaintances ever since.
With a B.A. and Master's work in violin performance, she has played violin and viola in the Symphony of the Redwoods and the Berkeley, Santa Rosa, Lake County, and Ukiah Symphony. She has played for weddings and special occasions with members of those groups, and has also performed solo recitals with piano accompaniment.
Besides extensive orchestral experience, Sienna has played chamber music and solo gigs all over the United States. As a street violinist, she entertained lunch-goers on Telegraph Ave. in Berkeley during the 70s, and traveled to Washington, D.C., and Italy as a summer street performer. During the early years of this decade, she was fiddler and singer for a local bluegrass band.
Sienna has been teaching privately for the past five years at Ukiah School of Music. She was Strings Teacher for two years at River Oak Charter School in Ukiah, and has been Strings Teacher since 2009 at the Waldorf School in Calpella, frequently playing the piano for Eurythmy classes there. She also offers a 6-week affordable summer program for beginning viola and cello school students. Her computer savvy has enabled her to arrange string parts for her classes geared to playing level. She has also composed works for string trio and quartet.
Sienna's teaching approach: Music is a natural expression of all people. A teacher can help channel that natural expression through instruction in tone production and intonation on a stringed instrument, and understanding of chords and melody on the piano. With this support, students of all ages can produce beautiful music that can access and express their deepest feelings.
